Please pinch me - I must be dreaming!

One week left and has a lot has happened in the past 2 weeks!  We didn't go up Super Bowl Sunday, but went to party at the American Legion in Rockford MI.  They had a raffle for 3 TVs, one a 42" HDTV from LG.  The built-in cabinet fits a 42" TV... I decided we should win the TV and not spend $999...Jack bought a couple of tickets and I bought some.  On Sunday I bought 2 more and told the guy selling them that I was going to win the Grand Prize.  I practiced that visualization thing, where I visualized my name being called. Well, guess what?  I WON!  So cool, we have a TV and an extra $999 to spend elsewhere.

Jesse and Ben, the electicians, came to our current house to remove the lighting fixture in the entry way to install at the cottage.  When we built this house, I spent the entire lighting budget on that light and it goes where we go.  It is some famous designer, but I just wanted it because I liked it.  It looks awesome in its new home.

We travelled up on Saturday in some less than desirable weather, but did make it safely.  The painters were finishing up.  They did a great job.  The only exception is the entry from the garage and the guest bathroom were painted the wrong color.  It was a mis-communication, not the painters fault. So, that will need to be repainted.

Greg, the Geo-thermal professional completed setting up the system.  He also spent 30 minutes with us teaching all about the system and how to maintain it.  Greg, was a very thorough teacher and we very much appreciate his lesson!

All the granite, cabinets, and lights (sans the MBR)  have been installed.  The bamboo floors are all in. Jack really liked the funky lights I picked out for outside the lower level slider.  Some of the appliances have been installed, with rest to be installed this week.

The fireplace surround tiles has exceeded my expectations and the tiles on the stair risers are so cool.  Mike has done such a fantasitic job on all the tile work!

Jack  and I will be heading up this Thursday night.  Friday, we take possession of the house and have installs for:  Phone, internet, security system and Direct TV as well as meeting with Joel Harner, our builder.

Hope you enjoy the pictures and we are so excited about Friday, sleep will be difficult this week.

  1. I am so happy for you both. The word "cottage" seems like an understatement. Just one question: when are you accepting company?? would LOVE to visit this summer. Seriously, or we could house swap for a Penthouse apartment on the intra coastal in West Palm Beach, FL over looking Palm Beach and the ocean.

    thank you for sharing!!
