November 9th update

First of all, thanks to all of you who have posted comments or sent us e-mails that you like this blog...we really appreciate them!

Joel our builder told us the windows would be in when we met with him on Wednesday.  Jack and I were so excited to see them.

The weather can be unpredictable here in Michigan and Saturday was no exception.  We just had a dusting of snow down south in Grand Rapids and it melted immediately.  The farther north we drove, the more snow we saw in the farm fields and along the sides of the road. Once again, Jack and looked at each other and said  "what the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" and wondered how much snow there would be in the "snow belt" of Beulah MI.  As you can see by the pictures, there was a small amount of snow on the ground, but the newly shingled roof was snow covered.
However, there was no wind and the sun was shining beautifully...so warm and soothing!

The front walkway, porch and back patio is poured, the Anderson windows are installed, the deck is on the back (all covered in snow!), and the the insulation is in.  There are 2 types of insulation:  foam sprayed that turned hard  and wool glass insulation in the walls.  The windows are so awesome.  If the front door is open, you will be able to see directly through the house to the lake.

We met with a Solar contractor and expect to have that all arranged in a week.  I'll give all the details once that is completed.

Enjoy the pictures and have a great week!
